Looking after your new convertible roof
Thank you for choosing CarHoods Northern Ltd. To help your new convertible roof perform at its best and last for many years, please follow the simple aftercare advice below.
We recommend keeping your new roof fully closed for 10–14 days after installation. This allows the material to settle and stretch naturally, reducing tension on the roof mechanism and helping to prevent premature leaks or tears. Warm weather or gentle sunlight can help the material bed in more quickly.
If your roof has a plastic rear window, carefully guide the window as you lower the roof for the first few times. This helps prevent permanent creases and allows the material to fold correctly.
Avoid using pressure washers or automatic car washes on your convertible roof. High-pressure water and harsh brushes can damage the roof fabric, stitching and seals, potentially leading to leaks and expensive repairs.
Regular maintenance is essential to keep your roof in top condition.
Convertible roofs are designed to allow small amounts of water past the outer seals. This water is safely carried away through the drainage system. If the drains become blocked, water can overflow into the vehicle, potentially causing damage to carpets, trim, electrical components and the interior.
If you have any questions or notice anything you’re unsure about, please contact us before continuing to operate the roof. We’re always happy to help and can often prevent a small issue from becoming a costly repair.
